HOW TO ENROLL AND INTERNSHIP FEATURES

Students can apply for our Internship Program and work directly in their field of interest and expertise.
Internships are unpaid, but insurance is provided. Companies also often choose to pay an “expenses refund”.
Each student is assigned to an Internship advisor who will provide counseling, support and supervision throughout the program.

 

Students are required to take two intensive preparatory Italian courses for a month before they can start their internship.

Italian Courses: 2 intensive Italian courses for a total of 6 credits (90 hours)
Length: 4 weeks  (extra lessons may be required for those students who are not ready to start the internship)

INTERNSHIP: 4 to 7 hours per day from M to F, for a maximum of 12 credit.  
Length: about 12 weeks  
Internship Dates    
January 9-April 28    
September 1-December 19    
May 1-August (during summer vacations, each company has a different schedule in August).  

Minimum level of Italian required in order to be accepted for an internship - Italian 102 or equivalent.

NOTE: Certain fields require a minimum of experience in the sector. Therefore, all Internship Program applications must be approved before appointments can be assigned.
 
ELIGIBILITY
Successful completion of at least one Italian Course at APT
Level of Italian Required: Level 4, or permission of Program Director

Minimum Age: 18

Qualifications: High School diploma or University degree
Placements are based on students' qualifications and work experience
 
ITALIAN PREPARATORY COURSE
This course is specially designed to prepare students to meet the linguistic requirements for APT's Internship Opportunities
 
Lessons: 20 hours per week (50 minute lessons), course materials INCLUDED.
Duration: Minimum 4 weeks • 
Period: Throughout the year
Levels: There are 6 available levels from beginners to advanced
NOTE: Our Internship program requires level 4 language placement OR permission of APT Program Director
Class size: maximum 12 students

The enrolment fee covers the learning materials used in the courses, administrative fees, student services, such as Internet connection and the use of computers at school (WI-FI ZONE), an insurance policy that covers all damages or personal injuries that occur on the school premises, all tests and language exams and the certificate at the end of the course.

The Internship program fee also includes internship supervision, internship compensation insurance and the certificate of attendance.

SERVICES UPON ARRIVAL
Program Orientation and City Orientation
Meeting with the internship coordinator to discuss details of work experience
Selection of the suitable company according to the student's area of interests, experience and availability
Assistance for government permit procedures
Language placement test During Language Preparatory Course
Regular progress assessment during the Italian language course
Assessment and evaluation of learning objectives
Daily activities organized by the school (excursions, guided visits, films, etc.)
Introduction of the students to the chosen company

Monitoring and defining the agreement between the student and the company During the Internship Program

Insurance to cover workplace accidents for the duration of the program (INAIL - National Insurance Institute for Industrial Accidents)
Entrusting the student to a tutor within the company
Regular monitoring and evaluation of work experience
Certificate attesting participation in the Internship Program
 
- Please indicate clearly the choice of accommodation, Accommodation description and address will be sent directly to the student upon acceptance .
- Accommodation available one day prior to program/course starting date, through the day after finishing date. Enrolment Fee 50 €
- The enrolment fee covers housing assistance
